first things first, here's the exact quote:
"This [proportional voting] is why Israel's so fucked. It's because Bibi was forced to join in a coalition with the Torah Bashers. This is why you have Gaza now. I can guarantee you for a fact that if Israel didn't have proportional representation Gaza would be nothing like it is now and yet you have the party that permanently moralises with insane accusations like “Gaza is actually Labor's fault” - The Australian Labor Party's fault? “Yes”"
This implies a few things, namely
1: Netanyahu is not pro-genocide (or at least not pro-the-current-situation, Jordies refuses to call it a genocide), but only acts this way because of the coalition he is in
2: Israel can exist without a genocide of the Palestinians
3: The genocide is a result of the current Israeli government
4: Netanyahu would be more reasonable if Israel didn't have proportional voting and/or someone more reasonable would be elected
5: the ALP is not responsible for the genocide
proportional voting is where the number of seats a party recieves is proportional to the number of votes the party recieves
i.e. if a party got 20% of the votes they would get 20% of the seats
as a result of this, no singular party has ever had a majority in so-called Israel
this lack of a majority means parties must form coalitions with each other in order to form government.
this is the same system australia uses for the federal senate (note: government is not formed in the senate so it isnt the same) and what tasmania uses for their lower house
the first implication is by far the easiest to disprove. Netanyahu was raised in the United States and moved back to Israel with the express intention of joining the IOF in 1967 and then moved back to the USA after being discharged. the borders pre-1967 are generally considered to be the israel-palestine borders that we should "return to" by liberal zionists like Bernie Sanders. this six-day war of 1967 (of which Lebanon, where Bibi was, was a "minor involvement" according to Wikipedia) resulted in the deaths of ~465k Arabs with the intention of expanding israel. israel had been at an armistice with Arab nations for about 15ish years beforehand.
Netanyahu returned with the explicit goal of participating in this. he is pro-genocide, and always has been.
the second point is similarly easy to disprove. put some effort in Jordies, seriously? israel cannot exist without the genocide of palestinians. this is not really a controversial take. need i remind you that when zionists first came to palestine their slogan was "A land without people for a people without a land"
remind you of anything?
israel is a colonial ethnostate. by design of the country, palestinians are considered 2nd-class citizens. if palestinians were treated as equals in israel & received their right to return (as required by international law) it is possible they would disrupt the hegemony of zionism in israel, requiring that israel oppresses palestinians in order to keep Israel existing.
as well as this, colonialism *requires* genocide. we saw this in australia, north & south america, and plenty of other places. you cant just take peoples land peacefully.
this point flows us on the the 3rd implication: The genocide is the result of the current Israeli government. this is not true. the genocide began before the israeli government even existed; the IDF itself is a result of the combination of three zionist terrorist groups. the genocide of Palestinians has been happening since before Netanyahu was even alive, and if Israel isn't stopped it will continue after he dies
i have somewhat already disproved 4 via Netanyahu's genocide participation but just to really get the point across his party (Likud) has *chosen* who they will form a coalition with. noone forces anyone to form a coalition. likud could theoretically attempt a coalition with Hadash if they wanted to.
and the 5th point is the reason FJ said all this to start with.
The Australian Labor Party upholds the Israeli apartheid state. this fact is inherently opposed to everything FriendlyJordies is attempting to convey in his videos.
this fact is not debatable. just like in Nazi Germany, where any government that attacked anti-Nazi groups were in effect pro-Nazi, any government that attacks anti-Zionists is in effect pro-Zionist and therefore pro-genocide
