Last week’s wanderings took me to Downriggers in Friday Harbor — a day that danced between drizzle, sunshine, and soft gray skies. 🌦️ The mix somehow made everything feel even cozier. I tried their Crab Tots (so good!) and Spicy Shrimp Mac & Cheese, with a pint of IPA and their Coconut Mojito rounding out the table — island comfort at its best. 🍺🥥🦀

The rain hadn’t let up over Friday Harbor when I wandered into San Juan Island Brewing Co. for an early chat. Inside was all warmth — discussing changes since the pandemic including sourdough pizzas, the support of locals and toursists, while inspiring easy laughter from co-owner Sean Aylward and head brewer Jesse Visciglia.
We talked about island life, small-batch creativity, and what it takes to maintain a sense of community.
I tried their Chicken Bacon Blue and a special order pepperoni pizza, both perfect alongside a cold glass of San Juan Pilsner while the rain kept tapping on the windows.
