A short close-up video of the large shoal of fish (rudd, maybe?) basking in the large pond (or more correctly, leat) at the allotments this late afternoon. I can't resist them, as they look so peaceful! 😍 I think the ones with the white blotches might be diseased? 😔 #Fish #FreshwaterFish #Kent #England
@mastosalo Yes, many, and big'uns! 😁 #carp #freshwaterfish #fish
Lots going on in the big pond today - It was hard to know where to look! 😅 Here the large koi is disturbing a mixed shoal of mainly roach, I think 🐟🐟🐟🐠 #fish #freshwaterfish #ponds #Kent #England
Lots of fish were basking in the late morning sun on my trip to the allotments today! A mixed shoal, I think. My usual request for help ID'ing them! 😊 #fish #freshwaterfish #pond #lake #Kent #England
We hear from Bernd Hänfling now, who talks to us about the state of #eDNA approaches for monitoring #FreshwaterFish populations. After 15 years of the eukaryotic eDNA field, we now have a good idea of the ecology of eDNA and how it relates to traditional approaches (e.g. #WFD). There is also greater uptake of eDNA methodologies, which is good to see #FSBI2025
