Freezing rain expected tonight in Waterloo region and Guelph
Periods of freezing rain will begin Thursday evening in Waterloo region and Guelph. Environment Canada says the freezing rain will tapper off at around midnight to freezing drizzle that could continue into Friday morning.

I’m Canadian and have lived in a few places.

I’m not inexperienced in a wide range of different kinds of precipitation.

But *Weather Canada* what can ever you mean by a forecast of “Periods of snow, Risk of freezing drizzle” when it’s currently -12 C, feeling like -18 C with windchill?

What possible kind of temperature inversion is happening at higher altitudes? Why then does the radar look so benign?

Well, I guess we can look forward to a nice icy crust on top of the 21 cm of snowfall in the past day….
