If you use CAD software and care about properly owning what you make:

Do not use Onshape.

Do not use Fusion360 (or any other Autodesk product).

Using these tools binds your work to someone else's profit motives. You are a temporary guest in their house. They *will* fuck you over the moment they decide they can make more money by doing so.

#freecad and #openscad are incredible tools. Learn them and become free.

I'm continuing the Prusa MK4S filament storage setup. I decided on a system that has 5 commonly used filaments in "permanent" storage, one or two per project swappable spools and a holder for the dryer machine.

I printed one example of a holder for the PolyDryer Box, but its latch based attachment system turned out to be a no-go from the start. I wanted something where I can just drop the box into the holder and it'll stay there with gravity alone. After some web searching, I went the "oh screw it, I'll make a better one myself" and it was #freecad time.

So here's the finished version after couple of iterations. It's very snug, sturdy enough but won't eat that much filament either when printed.

Ha! The recent #KDE-Platform update (#Flatpak) broke my #FreeCAD (#Flatpak) installation on #Debian #Trixie, resulting in an enormous list of errors—and, more importantly, no UI!

Downgrading the KDE-Platform Flatpak (6.10) by one commit fixed the errors:

sudo flatpak update --commit=49bc183da466bec44bab4f6f641cab401584d1ee30872b428f46c3b8066527d3 org.kde.Platform/x86_64/6.10

If you have #problems with #FreeCAD under #Linux : an update of "org.kde.Platform" destroyed some depencedies.

A possibility is using the AppImage of FreeCAD, it works fine ...
