Charlie Ford, huntsman of the Devon & Somerset Bassets, was found guilty of a Hunting Act offence at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 18 June 2026.

This is the first time a basset pack has been convicted under the Hunting Act.

The offence occurred on the 13th of October 2024 at Mullins Farm in Bagber. North Dorset Hunt Sabs received a tip-off that a hunt was in progress and attended with Wildlife Crime Action monitors. The sab filmed the basset pack hunting a hare, with footage being supplied to the police. Ford was fined just £648 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £259 and court costs of £650.

I have seen undercover footage filmed at the Carmathenshire Hunt Kennels.

The footage shows Huntsman Will Pinkney shooting hounds in the head before throwing their bodies into bins. Will shot nine hounds in 40 minutes.

You may not know, but hounds are expendable tools for hunts who, despite an impending ban on hunting, are continuing to breed them. Older hounds, or hounds who are surplus to requirement usually, are shot and disposed of to make way for the younger hounds prior to the cubbing season. This cull of hounds happens every single year.

I will not share the link to the video as I love animals.

Pinkney has been reported to the police.

Ban fox hunting T-shirt

A T-shirt from our Scientist and Philosopher range. Ban fox hunting V1B design. Fox hunting and indeed any hunting belongs in our barbaric past. It’s time the human primate species grew up and evolved. The fox is a beautiful wild creature but because it’s an inconvenience to some they think that it should be killed. We as humanity need to learn to live with nature as we do not own this planet and therefore must learn to share it with nature’s rich diversity.

Check out how these products are made using organic cotton. We need to live in not just a sustainable way but one that causes the least environmental loading on the planet. You can even send these items back to be made into new things when you have finished with them. (S&P)

Pro hunting supporters have warned that a new Stormont bill to ban the blood sport will leave thousands of dog owners across Northern Ireland at risk of prosecution.

It comes as assembly members (MLAs) will on Tuesday vote on the legislation which aims to ban hunting wild animals with dogs in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland is the only part of the UK where the practice is still permitted.

The private members bill is being brought by the Alliance Party's John Blair but has been dismissed as "misguided and divisive" by the campaign group Countryside Alliance Ireland.

The group held a protest outside Stormont on Tuesday morning and its spokesperson Gary McCartney warned the bill is so "wide-ranging that it will impact on every dog owner in Northern Ireland".

No, it won't.

Impose the ban countrywide NOW
