For this weeks Saturday Night Special, I proudly present - The Heart Of The Matter by Don Henley. This song brings back a lot of memories when I hear it. Back in 1990 I had just broken up from a pretty long and somewhat serious relationship. I just decided that it wasn't working and I was no longer in love with him. Still, despite me being the one who ended things, it was hard for me and I spent the next few weeks crying on and off. It didn't help that this song was popular and on the radio often, and he reached out and dedicated it as his song to me. Many years later I've since gotten over all that. Still, whenever I hear it, it brings that distinct memory. Anyway, enjoy!! 💖

Alright,so New Kids On The Block can bring up some mixed reactions in terms of the popularity they ended up reaching. And unlike groupie girls who went out to buy their comforters, bedroom sets, pillow cases, dolls and whatever else they were marketing, I always go back to the music. I liked New Kids long before all the crazy popularity set in. I remember when this song first came out, and I was instantly hooked because it had the Jackson 5/New Edition vibe to it. In short, I was NKOTB when NKOTB wasn't cool. This song also holds some fond memories of a person I was dating at the time it came out. Overall, it's just a cute love song.
