After two weeks of not doing anything technical but enjoying my vacation, I have been tinkering with my #ForthDeck again, adding another 64 blocks (64K) of EEPROM based block storage to it, which I connected via the I2C bus.

Just built a 4-port #I2C #bus #expander for the #Mynor #My4TH #ForthDeck so I can finally get rid of my current breadboard setup which has been sitting on my desk for far too long, causing even more of a mess. Turned out nice, I think ...

OK, I had a bit more problems as I expected. Because I used the precision sockets ROM and RAM are to thick. But the mounted #ForthDeck with it's #my4th inside fullfil my needs completely.

Also, @andypiper was so kind and sent me a #3dprint case for my #ForthDeck - he used this print to calibrate his printers and sent me the resulting case.

The case fits nice and well, but I decided to put the oscillator on a socket instead of soldering it to the PCB - I will need to reverse this hack of mine since otherwise I won't be able to properly close the case at the back. And I'm currently waiting for M3 10mm screws ...

again, thank you very much Andy!

Shortly strait before home πŸ˜€β€‹ The #ForthDeck can power itself and the #My4th, the keyboard caps are labeled. I cut up some pre-printed film and glued the cutouts to the caps. #Ender3 is currently trying to print a housing and I has to see what it turns out. Unfortunately one corner is lifting off the print bed.

The backlight of the #ForthDeck is working, I had to exchange the two pins against each other. 17-A and 18-C are correct for my display. Additionally I burned the faster nfd (no forth deck) ROMs of #My4th and reload the drivers for it in the autoboot sequence. The i2c commands are up to 300% faster! And mounted keycaps on the switches. Next step is trying to print a violett housing for it.

The evening solder work is done. Here is my standalone #ForthMachine, based on #My4th "processor" board and the #ForthDeck. I have to figure out why background lightning does not work and add a charging option to run fully self-sufficient.

Ordered the main parts for the #ForthDeck. Tactile switches with button caps and the 40x4 display. Now I have to be patient... this topic can be continued after Christmas ;)

Yesterday the last touches at our roof where done. So now finally an opportunity to clean up my hobby room in the attic. And to continue projects that were left behind during the renovation. I would like to install the #my4th inside a #ForthDeck to get it self-sufficient.
