Los Burritos Juárez Are a New Kind of New York Burrito

The burritos are simpler, slimmer, and better than what most New Yorkers are used to seeing. Photo: Bobby Gallagher At 11:30 a.m. on a recent Sunday, a line had already started to form on Myrtle Avenue outside of Los Burrito…

The Williamsburg Savings Bank finally got the clock on the north face of their tower — aka, "the giant clock that's impossible not to notice right out my window" — working again. Having it telling the proper time, instead of being stuck forever at 12:00, is a huge improvement in my daily quality of life.

#Brooklyn: from #kaitafi #pastry to #FortGreene Park 🏞️
This is a photograph of the intersection of Myrtle and Vanderbilt Avenues in Brooklyn. This is the border of two neighborhoods: Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. There is not too much to say about it other than (1) I took it on May 4, 2025; (2) Exciting photo for Subway fans; and (3) You can see the tallest (and, some say, most ominous) building in Brooklyn in the background. I did however use this photo for an article featuring a different stretch of Vanderbilt Avenue (that is why I took it), so I figured why not share a bigger version on Pixelfed.

NYC Open Streets Traffic Cone Shortage

I read an article about a possible traffic cone shortage harming Open Streets locations in New York City. This reminded me of watching a truck destroy two traffic cones in Brooklyn Heights.

Tonight: easing back into some livemusic. Couldn't resist a set from a new band from some friends playing in a club directly across the street from the building I used to live in 24ish years ago. Needless to say, this place and pretty much everything else around it was NOT here when I lived here.

Music is great, though, and cool spot. Tasca playing organ trio mixed with jam and 80's vibes at Brooklyn Music Kitchen in Fort Greene.
