Had my first post-op visit with my doctor today. Said it looked good. But still a little too "wet" for Erin to start handling the bandage changes herself. So he wants me back this Thursday.
I have 7 sutures on a 5 inch long incision straight down the bottom of my foot. I can't put ANY weight on it for 6 to 8 weeks. So I'll be in the chair for a bit.
After that, he said he's going to put me into an AFO brace. I'll be in that for a time, then surgery to fix tendons in my foot and calf.
The positive thing was I didn't have to have a picc line because Erin and I couldn't afford to pay for it out of pocket. Being poor for the win!!
Below is a pic of my foot in the bandages about 2 hours before the doctors visit. The second is a blurred out pic of the foot after a cleaning.
(Unaltered photo available from Erin upon request) Thanks again to everyone for your continued support! We love you guys! ❤️
Friendgineers: You can hack together a solution. You can overengineer something and never finish. How do you balance the two extremes? What principles help you find the best simple system for now?
@ebel Huh. I suppose if I wanted to burn all the rest of my bridges at my job (I don't, quite yet) I could start asking deans, presidents, provosts, directors, etc. why they insist on dressing like colonizers.
I find it helps to just mentally add the "... for now." to the end of every claim a company makes about a proprietary service.
