The Mad PianessToday’s #coffee pick: got into my stash for some Starbux brand whole bean previous year Christmas espresso blend (I, ah, won’t say what year, just that it’s been in my stash for a little minute). As it happens I had some already ground up, perfect for the #espresso machine. Not much aroma from the grind, but the whole beans still had a mild chocolate aroma in the bag. Some mild aroma while brewing also. Went with a dash of chocolate macadamia nut syrup, packed with ice, and topped off with some Reece’s peanut butter cup flavored creamer. Delish! Great way to wile away a Saturday afternoon concluding my rewatch of #ForeverKnight.
Lacroix, who knew that even you had a red line? And Nick,goddammit, control yourself! I swear. You need me to come knock you upside the head? Because I’ll do it. I’ll march right up there to Canada. Vampire or no vampire. Immortality isn’t going to excuse you!
Today’s #coffee pick: went local-ish with Paramount Coffee brand out of Lansing, MI. Time to “Fall In Love” with Vanilla Nut Cream. Subtly sweet aroma from the bag, with some warm notes. Into the #espresso machine it went.
Wanted to add some hazelnut syrup but for some reason could not find it. So I went with vanilla. (Very “vanilla”, I know, but it’s a classic for a reason.). Packed with ice and topped off with the last of the amaretto creamer. Delish! Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon bingeing #ForeverKnight.

**Page Fletcher.** A sad story that could only be told on this show. The focus is a vampire from Nick’s past. Her backstory is tragic, and Nick is responsible. Denise Virieux is mesmerising and gives a superb performance. At the end, you really, really want things to work out for her. They don’t. And it’s heartbreaking to watch. Written by Morrie Ruvinsky and directed by Geraint Wyn Davies, this is the sort of TV episode that stays with you for a long time. 10/10

Serena, a victim of Nick's immortal bite from the past, has a plan to regain her mortality. According to ancient legend, a vampire will become mortal if she bears a mortal's child. But to conceive, the mortal must possess an extra chromosome and will be murdered soon after conception. When Trilling, who possesses the magic chromosome, is arrested for murder, Serena provides an alibi to get him out of jail. Fully aware of Serena's plan, Nick struggles to solve the murder -- torn between reconciling the wrong he did Serena and preventing yet another murder. But his actions, along with the reasons behind them can never be revealed.

**Deborah Wakeham.** Not much for Natalie or Schanke to do in this one, but it has fantastic scenes for both Deborah Duchene and Nigel Bennett as Janette and Lacroix. Scenes that examine Nick’s all-consuming hunger in a fresh and interesting way. They are easily the best scenes in the episode. Great performances, great cinematography. The actual a-story is about a psycho serial killer. It does a decent job of diverting our suspicions away from the real villain for most of the runtime. _My 419th TV episode of 2025. Averaging 1 hour of TV per day._ 8/10

Soon after a psychopathic killer, Peter Barlow, escapes from a mental institution, a patient's body is discovered on the hospital grounds -- the victim of a brutal and vicious murder. The following day another patient's body is discovered. Both crimes match Barlow's M.O., and Nick Knight is determined to prevent another murder. But, Nick's quick arrest of Barlow proves there is a different killer at large. Now he must find a new connection between the victims and the murderer.
LordWoolamalooEarphones listening on tonight's trip homeward was Fred Mollin's soundtrack for 90s Canadian show Forever Knight, which I've not listened to in ages (it remains a show almost no-one else I know has heard of, let alone seen)
