A well-deserved recognition for the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate, awarded the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize at UNESCO Headquarters: honouring their steadfast defense of press freedom.
Congratulations!
Khaled El-Enany (@UNESCO_DG)
Today, I awarded the 2026 UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize to the Sudanese Journalists Syndicate.
In the face of conflict, its members have shown extraordinary courage, continuing to report, to document attacks against journalists, and to support their colleagues, often at great personal risk.
Their work reminds us that freedom of expression is not abstract. It is an essential lifeline, providing access to information, to safety, and to connection.
Let us honour their resilience, their integrity, and their unwavering commitment to truth.
