So @WholeFoods, why add to @Amazon's #sustainability problems? #Glass with #metal #lids is #NonToxic. #Plastic leaches #petrochemicals & should not be a #FoodContactMaterial. Yet nearly everything in #supermarkets is packaged in plastic. #PlasticFreeJuly & #PlasticFree everyday. QT @Janet_MASSPIRG: https://nitter.it/Janet_MASSPIRG/status/1680314280371970048#m

I don't shop there anymore, in part bc of this. My neighbor just texted me this pic: @WholeFoods used to sell their spices in glass, now they come in #plastic . If only we could have 365 days of #Reduce #PlasticFreeJuly

Call for collection of data on phthalates, structurally similar substances and replacement substances migrating from or occurring in food contact materials (Plasticisers_FCM_2022)

Background In accordance with Article 29(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, EFSA has received from the European Commission a mandate (M-2020-0183) with the request to conduct preparatory work for the re-evaluation of phthalates, structurally similar substances and replacement substances that are potentially used as plasticisers in food contact materials (FCMs). This mandate includes a request to consider migration data in the context of the dietary exposure assessment. To this end, EFSA aims to collect results generated in experimental studies on FCMs before their actual use, e.g. tests on...

Phthalates and other plasticisers: priorities for reassessment

Feedback from two public consultations has helped EFSAโ€™s scientists prioritise reassessments of plasticiser substances used in food contact materials (FCMs) and define a protocol for assessing consumer exposure. Full risk assessments will follow in a second step.
