I wrote a new blog post about how I feel I'm writing "image to image", and how I'm okay with that.

This new image is what I created after being inspired by the prompt word "Sea" for 2023 Folktale Week. I am not able to do the prompts all in a single week, and I'm not doing them on Instagram anyway, so I don't feel like I'm missing out... hehe...

Wonderfully, the prompt words this year were directly influential on my adaptation/variation of Little Red Riding Hood, which I'm currently writing and which is the topic of the blog post on my website. This particular image is a part of the story where Little Red and her two Apprentice Woodchopper friends start to step out of their world and into something completely off the path.

I am having SO much fun doing these!!!

This is an image inspired by the 2023 Folktale Week prompt word, "Sea".

I missed the actual week-long event, but I'm kinda happy I did because I can take my time and really explore the words. I used the prompts to flesh-out my Little Red adaptation I'm really excited about where it's going!

For the #FolktaleWeek23 #FolktaleWeekSea prompt I made a linocut of one of my favourite mythological creatures: the Zaratan, here in my print a giant sea turtle disguised as an island. giant sea turtle zaratan that looks like a small island. There's a small campfire on the supposed beach, and a sailing ship from the age of exploration nearby. The sunset sky is in vibrant fuchsia, tangerine and purple. 🧵

'SEA - Monsters'
They are beings from folklore believed to dwell in the sea and are often imagined to be of immense size. I feel that the vast oceans could be a metaphor for our unconscious minds - the true place of origin of all monsters...
