Musical Interlude: "Storms" was the first Nanci Griffith album I ever bought, and this opens the album. A quiet song of heartbreak, but with a delicacy rarely found. And that line about how "love has a voice of its own" can mean so much.

Musical Interlude: Nanci Griffith is a great favorite of my sister and I, and we introduced her to our parents. This particular song is a family favorite; even my dad, who professed to think she was merely OK, was caught humming this from time to time. Mom says that if she ever hears this on the radio, even the Bette Midler cover, she stops what she's doing, even pulls over to the side of the road, to listen and reminisce.
