Mid-February, and a cold mist is lying across the frozen ground. In some side valleys, the light breeze has shepherded the moisture into the more sheltered clefts of the landscape.

The mountain sits in a pool of mist, its crags and contours covered in cloud.

Photographed on the same day as the previous photo that I shared yesterday — except that Mesa Grande is at a higher elevation, and was in the clouds! Quite a (photographic) treat... :)

Inclement

Travelling down the east coast on a blustery and showery day, we were hoping to see the dramatic mountains surrounding a tiny coastal village of only 200 inhabitants.

Instead, we were greeted by this misty view overtopped by a blanket of heavy cloud dropping tendrils of rain. Dramatically lovely.

Batman Mountain

A mist over Papafjörður is obscuring the foot of Brunnhorn and its neighbour, Kastárfjall. The unconcerned sheep have seen it all before.

With its three sharp peaks and rounded shoulders, Brunnhorn bears a strong resemblance to the iconic Batman logo.

On the tip of Vestrahorn peninsula in south-eastern Iceland.
