Thanks to #Flume and @homeassistant, I was notified when an old polybutylene pipe burst underneath my house and I was able to stop the water before disaster struck.
This is the second time that my Flume device has saved us from costly water bills and potential damage.

The drop itself, using gravity and momentum, only needs enough water flow to minimize friction on the descent, which is a smaller amount than that needed to propel and float the log through the upper portion, where a constant mild incline and pressure via channel width and the main pump keep the log ‘rapidly’ moved along.

Apparently perhaps just one pump carefully managed.
My main concern is the drop, thinking water would be lost too quickly there. But a couple of things might always happen.
1/ The channel narrows right before the drop, to guide the log, but also to maintain velocity with less flow
Is conveyor belt assist a typical addition?

So for water flume rides, how does the track design keep all the water from falling over the water slide proper as well?
Do motors pull the ‘log’ out of a deeper pool of water to go down the ‘water fall’ portion?
I’m imagining at least two circulation patterns
