The internet has massively sucked for quite a while now. @pluralistic calls this Enshittification. Let's talk about it and some ways we can get around it. In this installment I talk about cutting the noise of the internet with an RSS Reader. https://deadbeatguitarist.ca/2026/01/13/fight-against-the-enshittification-of-the-internet-with-an-rss-reader/ #enshittification #rss #fluentreader #takebacktheinternet #rssguard #linux #news #coreydoctorow #rssreaders #bigtech #techbros #mastodon
Fight Against the Enshittification of the Internet with an RSS Reader – Deadbeat Guitarist

@jenshoffmann

@Brask
Ja.

Any #RSS reader user has any advice on how to emulate filters? Say for example I want to filter out spoilers for a series from certain blogs/websites and there's no mention of the name that series in neither the title or content, only in the tags.

I'm using #FluentReader for Desktop and #CapyReader for mobile.

Pre-release builds ready to test!

Hi everyone, PLEASE boost this!

I wanted to mention again that we have created a community fork of Fluent Reader, a cross-platform RSS reader whose development is currently a bit stalled. Our fork is called Fluentflame Reader.

We don't have a stable release yet, but we already have testing versions for those who want to try it out and give us feedback or report bugs.

We have an updated code base; in fact, that was one of the reasons the project started: to fix bugs and transition from deprecated dependencies to more stable ones. Contribution guidelines? Yes! Code of conduct? Of course! Position on AI code? Banned!

https://github.com/yang991178/fluent-reader

#rss #FluentReader

@manton +1 for this feature. I am using #FluentReader for now. Micro.blog would do a much better job on my timeline.

I reviewed Fluent Reader, a local #RSS client for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Software Review!: Fluent Reader: an RSS Client / Feed Reader to Replace Scrolling Social Media!

A great RSS client for casually browsing articles with thumbnail support, although it has many, many shortcomings.

I recently switched #RSSReaders from #TheOldReader to #Inoreader because I wanted more features. Their website isn't the greatest place to read feeds as far as #accessibility goes(I switched to their beta and am giving them some recommendations though, so hopefully that will change), so I'm looking for a good #Windows #app that will sync with Inoreader. I use #FieryFeeds on #iOS but I'm on my computer a lot, so I'd love a Windows app. Can anyone recommend one? I've tried several but they either didn't sync with it or accessibility was bad. Some of the ones I've tried are #FluentReader, #RavenReader, #QuiteRSS, #FeedDemon, #RSSGuard, #RSSOwlnix, and #MyReader. The last one is the only one that seemed to work with Inoreader but accessibility is pretty poor. If any others I mentioned work for you, how did you set it up? If you're using something else, what is it?
