Interested in getting hands-on insights and help from subject matter and career experts within the industry?! Well, look no further than BioBuzz's weekly virtual Ask Me Anything series. BioBuzz is thrilled to welcome a different expert every Tuesday (from 12:05-12:50pm) as a perk of being part of our talent community. This week's guest is: Charlie Kivolowitz, Senior Technical Account Manager, Slingshot Biosciences What is the goal of Ask Me Anything? - To directly connect talent with industry and subject matter experts - Provide hands-on insights and best practices to level up in a particular area of expertise - Review and answer burning questions submitted/asked by YOU Who can attend these sessions? YOU or anyone within BioBuzz's immediate and extended talent community. What is the format? These 45-minute interactive virtual sessions are broken down as follows: 12:05pm - Welcome & Introductions 12:10pm - Expert presentation on a trending topic / best practices 12:20pm - Q&A [Pre-Submitted Questions} 12:35pm - Q&A [Open Floor] 12:50pm - Closing Remarks How do I submit questions? Please submit questions in advance. We will prioritize pre-submitted questions first, then will open the floor up to live Q&A. While we will attempt to answer all questions, we are limited on time. In general, we target 3-5 minutes per question to ensure we maximize the time for questions. ABOUT OUR EXPERT Charlie is a passionate scientist with more than 10 years experience using flow cytometry in multiple fields including immunology, microbiome, autoimmunity, and clinical diagnostic assay development. #flowcytometry is an amazing tool, but can be difficult to understand for novices. Check this out!

Macrophages are essential immune cells that reside in all tissues. Some macrophages arise from monocytes in the blood, but during fetal development they also come from a unique pathway!
We still have a lot to learn, but here I'll describe how Zhao et al. (2023) used mouse models to uncover hints about which progenitor cells create tissue-macrophages.

Very cool #Preprint from the lab of Jo Jones at #UniversityOfCambridge I've never used #JuliaLang, but this appears to make a lot of the analyses that our lab has hard-coded into a very nifty interactive web-app!!
Really awesome way to make complex #FlowCytometry analysis accessible when built-in tools to #FlowJo don't quite deliver!
Incredible work in this preprint by Konecny, Mage, Tyznik, Prlic, and Mair developing a 50(!) color flow cytometry panel for human immunophenotyping:
