As we got out of the car, I pointed up at the #flashes lighting up first one corner of the cloud-thick sky, then another. Here a flash, there a flash.
"It's lightning," Ma said. "The clouds are arguing."
"Why isn't there any thunder?" I asked. "I thought lightning always came with thunder."
"It's because Gus is sleeping," Ma said, releasing the car seat's latch. My baby brother was sound asleep in the seat. "They don't want to wake him."
