Frances Davis Alda was a New Zealand-born, Australian-raised operatic lyric soprano. She achieved fame during the first three decades of the 20th century due to her outstanding singing voice, fine technique and colourful personality, as well as her frequent onstage partnerships at the Metropolitan Opera, New York, with Enrico Caruso. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Alda

Underrated beauty, Gloria Swanson 💞
One of my obsessions, antique pillows, mainly #flapper era 1910s through the #1920s
It was a colorful period, lots of details, artistic and inventive. A combination of fabrics and materials we don't see in modern products. Labor intensive DIY items, beautiful and intricate.
Lots of ribbonwork, velvet, metallic lace, tassels, satins and silk embroidery. Often people just used whatever they had at hand and turned it into something magical.
