... These are just some of the words Floridians used to describe the proposed HB 999. While ultimately tabled, HB 999 spawned SB 266, which passed in early May.

HB 999 exemplified “an existential threat to academic freedom ..."

SB 266 is equally catastrophic. “If these policies are permitted to go into effect … it’s a death knell for public education in FL, and it’s not going to be confined to the state.”

Formerly the Pone de Leon #hotel, the building originally erected in St. Augustine, #Florida by Henry #Flagler was meant to be a season-long getaway for Northerners looking to avoid the extreme cold, creating the first “#SnowBirds.”
He hired #Tiffany to create the glassworks, #Edison to build a generator, and dozens of staff to flip electrical switches because the guests feared electrocution.
Flagler went on to continue building in Florida, running his railroad line all the way to Key West.
The Ponce de Leon was eventually converted into Flagler College.
This was taken from atop the old fort, the Castillo de San Marcos.
