End of term. Our weekly gaming group keeps plugging away. Our #FistfulofLead games are usually quite larger with up to 8 or 9 players. Sometimes even more.
I’ve learned to strip it down to ensure the game keeps flowing and everyone gets a turn. The objectives are typically short and sweet. It’s a miracle but most times the games resolve with clear winners.
We only have a limited lunch break to get it up and running. Meaning we can’t faff about with special rules!
So I have finished the teaching year.
Time for a breather. The games club has been running regularly with weekly sessions of #FistfulofLead games.
I’ve been so busy that most weeks I just haven’t had the chance to take photos, but here is the last shot of the club for ‘24, taken yesterday for our school end of year activities day.
It was exhausting but fun. Now I have to think and plan for a commerative wargame project for 2025.
#canberra Regional Wargame group at Lanyon Vikings Club’s monthly meet up today.
We played a moderns skirmish game using #FistfulofLead rules. I made a quick and dirty chart of random events for the scenario that had, random civilians wandering into the area, tropical downpours, mudslides, lost bearings, wild animal attacks…all drafted & edited with AI!
Really fun game. As always, club was busy. Bunch of #wargames #BoardWargames with about 30 players in attendance. #Tabletop
Today’s two sessions were spent playing through & learning the mechanisms for a Second World War game. In preparation for our upcoming D-Day event (Utah).
We mostly play lighter #fistfuloflead games in our club. Today I introduced some *slightly* deeper concepts. Unit cards, historically plausible random events and a CRT table.
In not much time the students began to absorb the changes. We have 20+ kids!
And good news - another teacher has joined the club!

Recess & lunch sessions with the students today. Last week of a very long term!
A sci-fi scenario of Space Dwarves vs Aliens. Narrow wins for the Dwarf space contingent as they raced for their hover tanks to escape a marauding Alien army.

Two sessions today for the students at our school club. Robin Hood vs Naughty Knights.
Robin and his merry men had to rescue Maid Marion before she was led away. A highlight - the Merry men shooting arrows at the mounted knight, a hero on his first turn. A failed armour save, a critical wound.
You live fast and die fast in #FistfulofLead …it’s fast & brutal and perfect for teens at lunchtimes.
#Tabletop games today @ recess & lunchtime for the students. A zombie survival game, always popular with the students. A double dose of ten player games of #FistfulofLead .
My head is spinning.
A highlight was a year 7 kid killing three zombies outright in a single combat…to be fair, the kid had the chainsaw wielding character. Rolling hot dice for his first ever miniatures game!
As for #miniaturepainting , my 1/32 Italeri Gladiators are slowly so slowly getting done.

Two games sessions today, both WW2 skirmish using #FistfulofLead rules. Too busy again to take photos.
The club is becoming very popular though, lots of diverse players…a few D&D players and even some #warhammer kids turning up.
We always have a bunch of girls playing too, so it would seem that gaming isn’t just a ‘boys own’ nerdy hobby now.
In other news…my 1/32 gladiators are slowly getting painted.
