Victoria Faces High Fire Danger as Heat Rises

Victoria is facing very high fire danger due to hot, dry weather and strong winds. Fire bans are in place. Learn what you need to know.

#Heatwave has #eased across #Victoria with most areas expecting temperature in the 20s & a sprinkling of low-30s.

There are NO districts rated as at #catastrophic or #extreme #firedanger.

Still 3 #emergency-level fires -2 in central Victoria in #Longwood & #Ravenswood
South, & 1 in #Walwa.

A fire in the Alpine National Park has been downgraded to a Watch & Act after the fire spread slowed overnight.

There are 4 blazes at Watch and Act level in the west & south-west. #VicFires #StaySafe

Got up 5.30am, watered the garden, fed the birds, filled three bird baths with water, done two loads of washing (will dry in 10 minutes today, what with the hot wind)s, done some fresh food shopping, loaded up on water, pulled down all the blinds and am now exhausted.

It's 9.30am but only 34C so should feel grateful but it was 30 overnight, so already tired when I got up.

Stay cool and hydrated everyone in heat/fire-ravaged SE Australia, especially VIC.

SCARBOROUGH (WGME) -- "Scarborough firefighters say a campfire that was not extinguished properly sparked a seven-acre brush fire near homes and railroad tracks on the Scarborough marsh Thursday afternoon.

"The fire, which is now out, brought a major response from firefighters, including from the Maine Forest Service, which used a helicopter and water from the marsh to douse the flames.

"Scarborough Fire Chief Rich Kindelan says Maine Forest Rangers are currently looking into what started the fire, but for now, the cause is still unknown."
