This 2013 is mostly Pinot Noir & a healthy chunk of Chardonnay, on the lees for some 6.5 years. It is a sparkler with a hint of austerity. Even though it is very dry and crisp, it remains perfectly balanced and flourishes with a little air. It has aged beautifully, and it seems to be in a perfect place, elegant and lively.
Mid-$40s, 13%, bone dry
Photo from a hike with @shawna, that took us through a cow pasture in the Finger Lakes National Forest on the Interloken trail. We did pause somewhere around here to observe some cows before one started coming at us, and we decided it was time to continue on.
A quiet waterfall tucked inside the gorge at Watkins Glen State Park—soft green ferns, layered stone walls, and that peaceful mix of water and rock that makes the whole place feel ancient and calm.
