My latest classic game inspired painting blog post, this one featuring a couple of characters from Final Fantasy IV, Rydia and Cecil, sitting with a chocobo nearby. Another of my favorites, and I really enjoyed painting my interpretation of the characters. #finalfantasy #fanart #painting

My latest classic game inspired painting features a couple of characters from Final Fantasy IV, Rydia and Ceil, sitting with a chocobo nearby. I've done a couple now from the Final Fantasy series already, so it felt like a must to get into this one. I talked about how much of a game-changer Final Fantasy VI's story was, but really I think Final Fantasy IV was the first game I recall that provided this sort of complex, movie-like plot. This piece was a bit tricky to conceptualize though, as I always preferred Cecil's dark knight design to his paladin change in the second half of the game. I did try to capture the vibe of some of the forested areas of the game, and definitely enjoyed painting the chocobo peeking around the corner.
"Hello, do you have a moment to talk about the painfully ill-equipped yet extremely zealous resistance movement dedicated to the liberation of the tiny town of Timber?"

Sigh... as much as I would like to play the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster games on my Switch 2, the stuttery movement and scrolling is absolutely a deal breaker for me.
Assemble your party, venture forth!
Final Fantasy VII Remake: Part 3 director talks locations, chocobos, dev progress and more:
When will we get that name?!
Finished Final Fantasy III 3D remake (with Sage Luneth, Geomancer Arc, Black Belt Refia and Ninja Ingus). It was great fun, I liked the 3D aesthetic, and since I was warned about the difficulty spike, I was ready and had no frustrations. I'm really glad I played this version โบ๏ธ (thanks, #gog ).
Next is FFV, but I'll probably take a little break (our game won't finish developing itself, unfortunately).
