YumaOne more #Zorki4 came for repair. Old, 1961 "Space year" camera with engraved name.
In this case it was really broken. The latching spring was jammed. Some parts were deformed... Guys, if it does not move - please do not apply force! Just bring it to me and may be it will be an easy fix. Otherwise...
It this case I needed to rebuild the spring. I tried guitar strings for that, but sure good spring needs heat treatment. So I just ordered it at world's factory - China.
Spring force and material differs but it still perfectly does the job if the camera mechanics cleaned and relubed. So did I. Complete CLA, reglued original curtains (they are still OK), polished parts that work better when polished.
Swiss-made watch lube is just top notch.
Adjusted camera lense flange distance. All these cameras usually come with flange distance completely being out of standards.
Checked shutter not capping or banding.
Camera is ready to shoot and apparently is one of my best works.
