Troy Lajeunesse of Dokis First Nation in northern Ontario will be taking his talents overseas.

The 26-year-old has inked a deal to play for the Fife Flyers, who compete in the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League.

Had he waited a bit longer Troy Lajeunesse most certainly would have been able to sign a contract for his first full season of pro hockey with a North American franchise. But Lajeunesse, a member of Dokis First Nation in northern Ontario, will instead be taking his talents overseas. It was announced on July 8 that the 26-year-old has inked a deal to play for the Fife Flyers, who compete in the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).

The #EIHL #UKIceHockey spotlight falls on tonight's matchup between #SheffieldSteelers and #FifeFlyers.

Fife have struggled in the league all season and are four points from bottom. Sheffield are challenging for the league title and are highly fancied by some.

But this is the first game for both teams since Fife's surprise win on Wednesday which knocked Sheffield out of the Challenge Cup at the semi-final stage.

All eyes are on the Sheffield Arena, which is harder than it sounds because IMHO they have a few too many adverts on their ice pad.
