Trio in the Canopy
Here we have a trio of little brown birds (parvus avis brunnea). With so many tiny birds fluttering about, distinguishing them can be a challenge, though apps like Merlin make identification easier. During winter and early spring, I often spot chipping sparrows, but I don’t believe these birds belong to that group. Instead, I suspect they are field sparrows (Spizella pusill), making them a new addition to my growing collection of bird photos.

Field Sparrow?
I think this is a field sparrow (Spizella pusilla), but I'm not sure. There are a lot of those around, but I haven't knowingly seen one until now, me thinks. Unless I find out different that is what it is. Feel free to chime in iffen you'uz knows what it be. :-)

The singer is a small, warm-toned sparrow with a rusty cap, neat white eye ring, and pink bill. Though still common, Field Sparrows have declined sharply in the last half-century, partly because of the expansion of suburbs, where Field Sparrows will not nest.
