Another FibreMood Social Sew Along ended with a new wardrobe addition. Thank you again, Céline @stikcel and Kate @timetosew for all the helpful tips and tricks (I didn't get to put all of them in practice, but one day I will 😉)! 😘
🧵
This Norma blouse totally fits my style, so I couldn't let this one pass 😍
🧵
I recently acquired a bag with fabrics from my in-laws, result of cleaning up their attic. I found this beautiful polka dot fabric inside and thought this would make a very nice Norma blouse. I'm guessing it's rayon, it has this sheen but feels a bit stiffer than expected on first sight. It has obviously been another garment before as the unpicked seams were still visible.
But boy, did I absolutely not like the way it behaved under the iron, while cutting and yes, also when sewing together 🤬
I was so bummed I didn't expect anything except a toile that may or may not even be wearable, convinced it certainly wouldn't meet my finishing standards 😬
I reluctantly pushed myself on to finish it...
🧵
I can now say it exceeded those expectations. Okay, it's still a bit wonky in certain places. The facings didn't match up with the neckline and I had to shorten the sleeves due to fabric limits.
But the feeling this blouse gives me... 🥰
Putting it on made me wanna dress up, so I put on lipstick to match the red buttons (no button stash here yet) and let my hair down for the photo shoot 😇
And oh yes, size 36 fits me again 🎉
🧵
