Oh man, I really hate defining genre.

Officially, Darkling is a Contemporary Fantasy. But it also Venn-Diagrams into the genres of Reverse Portal Fantasy, Romantic Fantasy, Paranormal Fantasy, and Paranormal Romance.

There's a fey realm, and our world. There's vampires. There's a strong romance subplot. There's telepathy...

#Nanowrimo Wrap Up!

I didn't make my 75k, or break any personal records, but I more than tripled my manuscript wordcount and I'm on track to complete the draft by January, which is such a relief I can't even.

I'm officially a day late on this check-in but I wrote until midnight last night and then just crashed!

Day 25 was my highest daily wordcount for the month. I'm not at all trying to catch up for 75k at this point, but I'm almost guaranteed to reach 50k either tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

WHAT'S THE BEST TIME OF DAY FOR YOU TO WRITE?

After dark :D
In the summer that usually means sometimes between 10pm and 3am. This time of year in the UK it's more like, anything after 5pm and before 7am.
Basically I'm a night owl, but I also prefer later at night because the world is quieter, everyone in the house is asleep, and I'm less likely to be interrupted.

The funniest moment for me recently... I don't know if anyone else will find it funny, but I have a character, new to book 2 of my series, and writing from his POV is just so funny to be because he's absolutely an anxiety ridden mess, and it's just so much fun to delve into his mindset.
