Once owned by the controversial UK politician and founder of the British Union of Fascists, Sir Oswald Mosley and his Diana, one of the infamous Mitford sisters. The couple were secretly married in 1936 in Berlin

A very large range of buildings overlooking the town finished in red sandstone with limestone trimming. Quite austere, but lifted by the Italianate campanile, Construction started in 1856, and it was further extended 1884. Later chapel added at this time.
