Monday night at #FemmeFlip, our #WomensPinball league, the theme was "Pinball Prom Queen", and I dusted off my original 1986 prom dress (with a few styling alterations to account for the vicissitudes of time and unforgiving zippers). Amazing night of pre-birthday fun and glamour with the gals.
#FemmeFlip is officially 2 years old! 🥳 Celebrated the anniversary of our #WomensPinballLeague last nite in our amazing new clubhouse with an Irish-inspired menu of bangers and mash… I leaned in to my heritage and brought potatoes 3 ways: classic mashed, German-inspired potato salad & fried with some cheese. (Yes I quoted the famous line from Lord of The Rings.) Another pal brought sausages & fried onions, and one member’s mom decorated cookies with our group logo. What a blast! #YVR #Pinball
THRILLING NEWS FROM THE VANCOUVER WOMEN’S PINBALL SCENE (thrilling to me, particularly): we are apparently moving #FemmeFlip, our regular #WomensPinball tournaments to an all new pinball spot that is a mere 550 metres from my home [sayeth Maps]. Tourneys are also increasing in frequency and will be every other Monday at 730 (start date for this and the new location’s name & details TBA). The pinball gods/goddesses obviously want me to play more, and host some pre-game gatherings-of-the-gals!
#Pinball recap: not only did I finish the qualifying round in 1ST PLACE for the first time ever, but I lost my closest high-scoring match ever to the amazing Emily, who eked out a truly epic victory on #Jackbot after her bonuses totalled up to put the scores at 369,123,600 and 369,123,590... a mere 10 point difference!! We gasped so loud it could be heard over the other machines. Absolutely incredible night, even though I finished 4th in the finals later.🥰 #WomensPinball #FemmeFlip #YVRPinball
Last night was the 1st anniversary of our monthly #WomensPinball tournament, #FemmeFlip, and to celebrate, I ate icing with a few crumbs of cake attached (I'm feeling stuffed up and glutenated today, but it was worth it)! 18 ladies of all ages and skill levels came out to play #pinball and gas each other up, and to wish one of our compadres #SaraLittle good luck as she competes at the #IFPA Women's Championships in Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend! GO #PEZ! Bring home the title for #YVR! 🙌
Also I am thrilled to note the balance of gender at #Vancouver #PinballTournaments has finally started to even out. Always nice to joke around with old pinbro pals, but I loved seeing so many ladies I know from #FemmeFlip and meeting all the sweet gals I didn't know at #SliceOfLifeGallery (and they liked my outfit! 🥰). Proud that I got beaten by the best, and she went on to win the whole tournament, because our gal EGR is a BEAST. Just need wayyy more dogs next time, pls & thx. #VancouverPinball
Another amazing #FemmeFlip last night, highlighting what a great community of #WomensPinball we have here in Vancouver. These ladies are just rad, and it's SO nice to play without all the chronic mansplainers and noisy death savers and "just going to stand here and watch your game so I can give you a few pointers" guys. I do NOT require male feedback on most things, especially not my crazy-ass pinball style. I'm about the flair & the fun & the friends, not the scores & rankings.
Tonight at 730pm at Good Co on Granville, It's #FemmeFlip, the #Vancouver monthly women's #IFPA #Pinball tournament. This is a super fun $10 entry #PinballTournament with lots of awesome ladies and some terrific pinball machines, so if you are a woman who loves to play (or wants to learn how), the #YVR community welcomes you!
Tonight was the 2nd ever monthly #YVR #FemmeFlip #WomensPinball tournament, made extra amazing by organizers Cynthia & Nicole and all the players who came out. I loved getting to play with so many rad ladies, and I finally got some long overdue #IFPA points up on the big board! The post-pandemic #pinball scene in #Vancouver seems to have been very welcoming to women & it couldn’t happen to a nicer hobby. Sickeningly skilled players tonight. And some of us curse a blue streak worse than the men.
Also I might pop down to go play in the #FemmeFlip women's #pinball tournament at GoodCo (965 Granville Street - 7:30pm - $10 entry #YVR gals!) and tomorrow my stepmother is coming over with darling dogfriend and we will begin addressing the sad state of my patio garden. Many active #hobbies at once makes for a happier Hez. ADHD do be like that.
