I worked on a new feat on my blog #BurgeonLab: a #XSL stylesheet for XML content (#rss #atom #feeds). It was easy in #Hugo—just a `static/style.xsl` and add `{{- printf "<?xml-stylesheet href=\"/style.xsl\" type=\"text/xsl\"?>" | safeHTML -}}`.

Ich bin ja ein Fan von KrISS feed, weil man diesen Feedreader öffentlich stellen kann und er ohne Datenbank auskommt. Aber dafür hat man keine Suchfunktion, was man ja doch ab und an gebrauchen kann, wenn man nicht mehr behält, welche Information man aus welchem Blog noch im Hinterkopf hat. Deswegen habe ich mir mal Selfoss installiert, das auch ohne Datenbank auskommt und direkt funktioniert. Dazu gibt es eine nette App, was gerade dazu führt, dass ich mehr aus meinem Reader lese.

Going to try to self host an RSS aggregator again.

My previous attempts through NextCloud and WordPress both pettered out because of parsing errors.

Both depended on SimplePie which choked on multilingual content.

This happened when an English language publisher used a loan word, or quoted someone with for example _é_ in name.

I didn’t have the bandwidth to hunt down the issue at the time, and kind of want something a bit more robust.

Open to self hosted suggestions 🙏

I've just released v1.1.0 of OldNews, a #terminal client for #TheOldReader. The main change in this release is to add the ability to download and display the text of a page for an article you're viewing; useful for those sites that are stingy with the summary in the feed.
