If you look at the #FediverseMetrics poll going around at the moment (and the one from last year), the #fediverse is heavily biased towards #Europe

#Africa scores at 1-2%, although it represents 16% of the world population according to the UN. Similar for #Asia, which represents 60% of the world population. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_continents_by_population

The fediverse has a lot of work ahead to be a truly decentralized network and not just a european wet dream.
