I personally feel the lack of account mobility and custom discovery/recommendation are the only two things missing in activitypub/mastodon, so this seems pretty cool

Andy Piper@john it's ... complicated. We are working on #fediscovery which is opt-in across more than one server instance, which is more than you otherwise get. The overall search and discovery element has a lot of trust and safety concerns.
