Oh man did I just steal this thing or what!? Assuming this store is honest in the ad and all is good.

I'm having trouble deciding if I should put it to work as the new node/redis server for Misskey, or flip it for profit. What do ya think?

How would you qualify a Mastodon instance that has 10k accounts but only 63 original posts (not counting replies) in a 24 hour span?

Yes, this is a post about theForkiverse.com ... I'm trying to gauge how active it is, what its future may be...

One of its admins / mods (Kevin) hasn't posted anything since January 24th and it's disappointing if this turns out to be another high profile example of a hyped up Fediverse instance that quickly fizzles out 😭

On my end, I've been trying to interact (via my Mastodon account) with people on that instance to make them feel seen and valued.

But the lack of activity by its members and admins is a cause for concern, sigh.

Have any of you moved a mastodon instance from one host to another? for obvious reasons, we are looking to move niagara.social to a Canadian hosting provider but, well, the database is 25GB and the media storage is 1.6TB, which is way too big, and also very difficult to move. We are considering just exporting the accounts, starting over, and importing them, but that is far from ideal. Any thoughts would be apreciated !

I bought a used Dell 7050 USFF a while ago to use as a backup Server with Veeam then come to find out I have to have Windows Server to run it. Since it's been sitting I'm gonna use it as a local S3 bucket.

I'm gonna leave my usual Hyper-V/Ubuntu Desktop combo behind this time and just do an Ubuntu Server bare metal install. If the instance runs well in Test I'll put the bucket on an NVME and load it up Prod data.

We’re working on a service that can help manage the list of blocked and limited servers to make it easier to create a welcoming community. We are also considering adding some spam detection abilities as well.
