For anyone running a #gotosocial single user instance: GTS-HolMirDas (German for "get me that" or "fetch me that") might be interesting to you, if you want to fill your timeline with life. It fetches posts matching to hashtags you've set from the fediverse. For single-user instances this is great to see more new people and posts you otherwise never would have discovered.

Creating an app via the GTS settings panel did not work for me. But this did and it was really easy:

You can also use the getauth tool for other apps like FediFetcher.

This may be a super common and known app, but I just installed it and I think it's great.

Has anyone setup FediFetcher for Akkoma?

I would like som help / input / documentation if possible.
Thanks.

I have released v7.1.17 of #FediFetcher this morning.

This is a simple maintenance release, only updating dependencies.

If you are still using FediFetcher you should probably update as these fix some security vulnerabilities.

Did anyone ever deploy fedifetcher with snac?
I'm not asking about mastodon but (https://codeberg.org/grunfink/snac2)
It seems even consecutive runs take over one hour, I've got duplicates of reply trees in my conversations, while still not seeing all replies there are. Also the "database" increased considerable in size.

I guess it's not fully compatible. But I would like to know what others did with it.

Should I stop #FediFetcher with the new version of Mastodon? #mastoadmin

@owiecc

Wcześniej można było sobie radzić #FediFetcher-em albo dodatkiem do przeglądarki. No ale teraz to będzie rozwiązanie systemowe :)

Continuing commenting on my #SelfHosted #Snac2 adventures...

Relays seem to be a big key to success when self-hosting/on small or single-user instances, so I've subscribed to one or two. Without those, following hashtags really is all but useless.

Sadly there doesn't seem to be any way to populate profiles of people that started following you. Even if you were to immediately start following them back, only future content gets pulled in then.

I like to take a peek at someone's profile when considering a follow, but they all have zero posts, so you have to pop over to their instance. Kind of a clunky experience when you have to leave the app just to see what a person (in the same social ecosystem, no less) is up to.

There seems to be one particular project called #FediFetcher that works to solve this, but it doesn't mention support for snac2, so I'm not sure if I can give that a try.

It'd be nice if there was a relay-like implementation that could help back-fill this kind of information, just to give you more to work with.

GoToSocial - ready for Prime Time?

Short answer: Hell yes. After completing the full migration and running in production for weeks, I can confidently say GoToSocial is ready for serious use. Perfect For: ✅ * Self-hosters with limited resources (VPS with 1-2GB RAM? No problem!) * Single-user or small family instances (works great up to ~50 users based on
