For more than a decades I was a meet-up organizer
My biggest meet-ups were machine learning / AI / data science related meet-ups.
I also organized some smaller science meet-ups, too
When my wife got pregnant with our first child, I stopped organizing. Being a parent took priority.
My kids aren't babies anymore. I started organizing again in 2025
FediCon is partially a result of that
Well that, and getting excited by the Social Web track at FODSEM and then Fediverse House at SXSW.
Driving through Jasper National Park on the way to FediCon is amazing, such a gorgeous drive.
