#FederatedPress announcement:
Open Collective Foundation (the 501(c)(3) fiscal host that we use to collect member contributions to pay our server expenses) has announced that they're shutting down by the end of 2024, and will stop accepting contributions on March 15 (basically in 2 weeks).
This pertains to Open Collective Foundation (OCF); the Open Collective _platform_ will continue to operate. See the official announcement here:

I thought of a new tagline for #FederatedPress that succinctly describes our focus:
"A Mastodon server for journalists—by profession or temperament."
In case you missed it—yes, we DID migrate our Mastodon server on Friday the 13th. I actually think it's the perfect day to move a server of journalists and skeptics. 😁

#FederatedPress announcement:
We will be upgrading our services on October 13, 2023 between 10am-12pm PDT. During that time, federated.press will be offline.
We'll be moving to a new server that will be a better fit for our community—it should provide a more stable experience, and will be less expensive to operate. (And search will finally be fixed!)
