Bluesky has a censorship problem. In the last few weeks some Turkish and Gaza users have been blocked due to government pressure or to avoid future pressures. Right now there is an appeal signed by hundreds to #Bluesky moderation: https://mastodon.online/@mastodonmigration/114564513570490377 Let's be clear. It is not really Bluesky's fault. It's a centralized platform controlled by a US corporation and has no choice but to accede to political pressures. Truly decentralized, public social media is the only defensible solution.

This isn't a bad article, overall, and its technical advice is quite sound. But it does hide or misrepresent the most critical difference between Signal and WhatsApp: WhatsApp has been owned by Meta for several years, and #MetaZucks: while your message CONTENT may be end-to-end encrypted, if you use it as your 'secure' messaging app, you have granted (in their Terms of Service, which match those of #UnethicalByDesign #Fecesbook) a billionaire (the enemy) who supports #AgolfShitler the right to store, access, and provide to anyone he chooses what's called your message 'EXTERNALS' -- things like who you communicated with at what specific time with what content types (e.g., text, pictures, videos, voice or video chat).
And let me tell you, as an old SIGINTer, there's an awful lot in there that anyone fighting for democracy at home or abroad doesn't want the #Sturmtrumpers of the #TurdReich to know....
