🎹 #FauxP1: the mechkeys are mounted on Neokey boards from Adafruit, each with an RGBLED. They come in 5x6 arrays that can be broken into individual boards, so I’ve got a bunch of these that I’ll need to rewire into an oddly shaped 3x17(+3) keyboard array.

The control surface is planned to be wired to a Teensy 3.5 I’ve got kicking around, as a USB HID and MIDI device for the rPi 4. The screen is DSI, directly connected to the Pi.

🎹 #FauxP1: Here’s the full control surface. Most of the keycaps are DSA, with the exception of the 4x under the screen which are translucent RGB, and the 8x under the encoders which are R4 windowed.

The encoders are a chain of I2C devices with RGB lit shafts, and all of the keys have RGB backlights in case I want to swap in a bunch of transparent keycaps. The screen is a 2.8” cap touch DSI from Waveshare.

🎹 #FauxP1: Apparently some folks are interested in this project that I let grow stale, so now I know what I should be working on next. πŸ˜€ For now, here’s a couple of pictures of the basic idea.

@AlgoCompSynth yeah, it’s on my website that I need to update πŸ˜€ https://oblique.systems/dev/fauxp1
