Bad day yesterday.
Also bad morning today.
I'm petitioning Our Blessed Cathal Coughlan for the strength to push through and complete a onerous work-related task.
First up, the album, "Black River Falls".
I believe Cathal Coughlan was a genius, partly because he was capable of filling an album with a mix of songs I loved, and songs I hated - there was no middle ground.
"Black River Falls" is a great example of this.
I love some of these songs.
I hate some of these songs.
I won't tell you which - you should listen and make your own decisions.
But you can start with this one, "Out Among the Ruins".
Make of it what you may.

Named in honor of a crumbling Dublin housing estate, the edgy, assaultive Fatima Mansions formed in London in 1989. The group was led by the acerbic Cathal Coughlan, who first emerged with Microdisney, and completed by guitarist Andrias O'Gruama, bassist Hugh Bunker, drummer Nick Allum, and keyboardist Zac Woolhouse. Almost immediately upon forming, Fatima Mansions signed to Kitchenware Records and entered the studio, soon issuing their 1989 debut Against Nature, a raw, blistering album featuring the single Only Losers Take the Bus…
