The Scorecard

One Nation has won the seat of Farrer. The Liberal vote collapsed by 31 points. The journalists filed the numbers. Urban Wronski asks the harder question: what does a win like this mean when the information ecosystem that democracy depends on is owned, hollowed out, and burning? A Martin Amis- flavoured reckoning with journalism, dark money and the Palace of Lies.

CSU and Barrie Cassidy hosted this excellent debate. I know I'm biased, but our superb #Greens candidate, Richard Hendrie, in a logical world, would be the best member for #Farrer - by far.
The Libs, Nats and PHON would be a disaster
The bit where the Libs try to justify preferencing One Nation is met with howls of laughter.

Farrer By-Election Debate

#Labor will be totally derelict in its duty to the Australian people if it doesn't run a candidate in the #Farrer by-election. #Liberal preferences helped #OneNation in SA, Labor can help keep ON out. The discussion, the stance, matters. #FarrerByElection
#Labor was correct to criticise the #Libs for preferencing #OneNation in the #SA #Election, but if it doesn't run a candidate in the #FarrerByElection it will be seen as giving up. #Preferences really count in shifting the agenda. Be principled like the #Greens
#Labor should contest the #FarrerByElection, and it would be gutless not to do so. It shouldn't only be about winning, and anything that draws away from the #ClimateDenying #populists is a demonstration of stance. The #Greens running in #Farrer gives voters a real choice. Anyone who knows how preferential voting works should have no objection. #ABCNews24
