Tonight’s #sunset in the #sunsetdistrict in #SF. Dusk and the #farallones
Totally bonkers #sunset tonight in the #sunsetdistrict in #sf. Check out the rainbow opposite the setting sun over the #farallones
⚠️ Oh wow, 50,000 barrels of radioactive "Oops!" casually tossed near the #Farallones for decades like a college kid's laundry. But don't worry folks, the #USGS is on the case, assembling "noncrisis" geological info just in time to ask, "What's the worst that could happen?" 🤦‍♂️🌊

Contamination of sediments in Boston Harbor, particularly by metals, is so widespread that its effects may be felt long after the sources of contamination are shut off. Where are toxic concentrations of metals located today? How did they get there? How will they move? These are questions that must be answered in detail before we can properly estimate risk in the environment.

I Thought He Came With You
The Chronicle wrote an article today on Amy Appelhans Gubser's May 11 47.7 km, 17-hour swim from the Golden Gate Bridge to one of the Farallon Islands. She was the very first person to swim in the outbound direction (mainland to island).

The entry for her swim in the Marathon Swimmers Federation's LongSwims database is full of great details and plots and charts and observation logs. Even if you don't swim, it is exciting to read.
