I like #Falkon, but it doesn't support DNS over HTTPS yet.

(also it doesn't have many extensions, but this is a minor concern)

@rozodru Maybe it would be easier to start with a working basis?
There is this browser called #Falkon. GitHub shows little to no activity, but the browser works and has basic functionality. I'm totally not asking because it's my favourite lightweight browser and I'd love to see someone take this canvas and paint on it.😇
AFAIK it uses the #chromium engine. If I understand correctly, you want to make an engine of your own? It would be cool if Falkon wasn't based on chromium anymore. Just saying🤪

I seriously would drop all other browsers in a heart beat if Falkon checked just a few of the boxes that Brave does for me at the moment. I've already given up Thunderbird for KMail. I'm ready to fully take the KDE pill but there are just a few missing elements.

It really bugs me that Falkon is stuck with a fairly out of date feature set. Its such a great browser in the making, all the bones are there... That is one thing KDE doesn't have: A solid browser. There are certain features that just seem like common sense now, which are not integrated. Sadly its reliance on QtWebEngine does place quite a few limitations on what can be done. Especially as far as add-ons are concerned.

Trying out the Angelfish browser. First impressions is that it's like #Falkon but with a minimalist UI, since it's optimized for mobile

TranslateWithGPlugin

A complement to the Falkon KDE browser that translates an entire page or the selected text in this using Google Translate.

I was just reminded of something that's actually kind of important to me. Falkon Browser is a Qt-based web browser that also doesn't include Google WebExtensions. So it's free from Google, Micro$oft, and Mozilla.

@thesaigoneer @jloc0 My apologies — I assumed your instance had auto-translation like mastodon.social. Still, it's an honor that someone so knowledgeable and clearly experienced took the time to respond. Truly admirable. Thank you for sharing @jloco's ISOs. Now I know that when friends or my group ask for recommendations, I can suggest them with trust and confidence. It's a pleasure to connect this way! 🐧✨ #Slackware #Linux #FOSS #KDE #Hyprland #plasma #Falkon
