Spectators watch the first #Falcon Heavy #launch, with 3 #Falcon9 #booster cores mounted side-by-side.
The outer cores burn their engines a maximum power through their portion of the flight, while the center core throttles down after #liftoff, and doesn’t increase thrust again until the other cores are nearly exhausted.

This was the first launch attempt of the #Falcon9Heavy, and used a #Tesla #Roadster to act as a mass simulator.

#SpaceSaturdary: The first #SpaceX #Falcon9 #Heavy #rocket launched from LC-39A at Kennedy Space Center. Crowds gathered across the #SpaceCoast to watch, including at Playalinda Beach.
In this #photograph, the rocket has risen above a hill, covered with eager viewers, while the three-cored rocket rising on three, firey exhaust plumes, and smoke billowing off to the left.
