After more than two years of construction works the #Huelva 🇪🇸 - #Zafra line reopened for passenger transport on 15 September 2025.

Unfortunately the new timetable doesn't include any additional services compared to before the closure, only nine trains per week and direction are now operating on the line. However travel times have been reduced by around 20 minutes thanks to the improved infrastructure.

Announced a long time ago, now it seems to be becoming serious: the Series 490 broad-gauge Pendolinos (ex-#Alaris) may enter service in September on the #Zaragoza 🇪🇸 - #Pamplona line.

They are expected to replace the Civia EMUs currently used for Media Distancia services on this line.

On 2 September #Trenord has introduced the new suburban line S31 between #Brescia 🇮🇹 and #Iseo next to the Lake Iseo, increasing the service from 3 to 4 trains per 2h.

And on 8 September the section #Manzone - #Edolo will reopen after 7 months of closure. Thanks to the S31 line, regional trains now run hourly fast services Brescia <> Iseo (where every 2nd train stopped at all stations before).

The Celje 🇸🇮 - Đurmanec 🇭🇷 services seem to continue operating with SŽ 813 Fiat DMUs.

High-speed rail has arrived in 🇨🇿. Yesterday, for the first time, a regular train service reached a speed of 200 km/h in Czechia.

The new train pair IC 591-590 runs between #Praha hl.n. and #ČeskéBudějovice, reaching 200 km/h on the sections Votice - Sudoměřice u Tábora and Soběslav - Doubí. It is classified as Intercity (not Supercity) as no reservation is required. However, SC 500 from Ostrava continues directly as IC 591.

It's nice that Slovenian DMUs now reach the Croatian station of Zabok. But regarding the schedules and transfers there is still much room for improvement...

Three train pairs run from Mondays to Fridays and one pair daily except Saturdays - still no cross-border train on Saturdays. 🫤

Portugal destina a su ruta estrella los trenes que compró a Renfe en 2020

Como dice el refrán, «la basura de unos es el tesoro de otros», una idea aplicable también al sector ferroviario. Durante los peores momentos de la pandemia en 2020 y con el tráfico bajo mínimos, Renfe buscó deshacerse de una parte importante de su material móvil a cambio de liquidez. La operación, motivada por la próxima llegada de los Avril, daría salida en otros países a unidades que cubrían en aquel momento rutas como el Intercity entre Vigo e Irún o Bilbao que a día de hoy aún sigue suspendida.

From tomorrow, 31 August, the former Renfe #Arco coaches will be used for the first time on #Intercidades services between #Lisboa 🇵🇹 and #Porto.

Until now, the coaches have only been used for interregional trains. The first train pair will be IC 523-528.
