Jeremy_N1ZZZThe #Yaesu #FTX1 is looking better and better as a ship radio over my Icom 7100. The only big omission for my operating is the loss of a data port for external modems/TNC's. There might be a microphone port/speaker option, but RX out can easily do damage to things. I much prefer line level audio. I don't use TNC's at sea anymore, so the issue isn't a deal breaker.

There is so much noise of "uh, it is expensive", "uh, it is heavy", "it can not do X", "that other radio can do this cheaper", all said from a very narrow perspective.
It is a joy to read such clarity with a well defined context.
