Working on #HandSpinning my first black #yarn. The #wool is from Warbler's #fleece and the tips are bleached, so I'm removing the tips. It's not going to be the blackest black, but it'll be black enough. 100% #GulfCoast. #FiberArts

I joined a local hand weaving and spinning guild earlier this year. I have never spun or woven in my life. Well, they all took me under their wing and provided me with advice, encouragement, instruction and equipment to borrow. I just personally sourced, skirted, washed and combed my first BFL (Bluefaced Leicester fleece). I have to say, it was a huge learning experience. But the end result was worth it. Today, despite the hand pain I have been experiencing.for the last 60 or so hours, I got out my Sheridan Junior spinning wheel. It was a pleasant afternoon. Fleece was from #Ixchel fibers, Oussant, Blue Faced Leicester and silk. My hands hurt but my soul is happy.

I skirted Orca's #fleece and I think this would be a really fun one to spin because of all the different shades. It is also shocking how SOFT it is! It's like petting an angora rabbit or a chinchilla or something.
